Liberty Hangs in the Balance

The shadow of the left is slowly stretching over us, like a shroud being pulled over our eyes. The light of day that was our constitutional republic is fading, as we stare into the golden zenith. We hear the voices behind us, all around us, everywhere at once. We hear murmuring, angry taunting and sporadic cheers.

You stand there helpless, hands bound, with your breath pushing up into the shroud, returning less oxygen with every breath. It is suffocating in the July heat. You feel dizzy and faintly nauseous.

There is a moment of confusion, and then clarity.

The hammer falls. Fate is suspended in the balance and the blood rushes to your head. There is a flood of thought, memories, dim recollections intermixed in a spasm of pain and hope. You feel lighter than air, dazed, wondering what will happen next. You don’t know how you got here; the experience is surreal.

An image springs to life. Thousands of men in colonial attire are congregated in an old meeting house. You hear quarreling and infighting. It is dark, with a fire shedding warm light on an oaken hall. There is the smell of roasting acorns, musty clothes and wood. A man with sandy brown hair and a crimson buttoned-down vest sets down a pitcher of ale and rises before the crowd. There is a demand for quiet and order. “This meeting can do nothing further to save the country,” begins a booming voice…

Another image flashes before your eyes. Men dressed as Mohawk Indians with red painted cheeks and feather-banded arms march with torches towards a ship brandishing the Union Jack. They board the ship and scavenge the decks and the galley. They seize large chests, two men at a time, and begin tossing them overboard, into the boundless ocean’s waiting mouth.

A flash. Soldiers on the march. There are red coats and sharp bayonets. They are assembled before a large field. The noon-day sun is bearing down like the eye of God, burning the eyes and searing the mind. The general, marching on a black mare is ready to dictate the terms for surrender.

All of a sudden, a shot rings out as men pour in from the woods from all directions. There is the cry of “Freedom!” and the men in red coats are overwhelmed. They are unprepared for a spirited, spontaneous resistance from such “uncultured” upstarts…

It is dark now. A cold night. Men are shivering, their bare feet exposed as they sit huddled in threes before flickering embers. Their backs are turned to the darkness, the forest casting a hush upon the ragged soldiers. Their eyes light up as a horse marches through the camp. They grab their muskets and are on the move. Makeshift boats are cast into the water and the men slowly make their way across a river that shines blacker than ink…

The country hangs in mid-air, dangling before a watchful world. The numbness of death awaits the nation of your father and your father’s father. The social fascists are murdering our land of liberty. America is kicking wildly and gasping for air. Will you cut her down?

Will anybody cut her down?

Heretics vs. Lunatics

The expert scientist geniuses who just happen to be funded by billions of taxpayer dollars all say that manmade global warming is real. That much is certain. Unfortunately, the data say otherwise.

First of all, air temperatures tell the story of the “greenhouse” effect, not surface temperatures. The story it’s telling right now is that “yall Democrats” don’t really know what you’re talking about. In fact, you don’t know this yet, but history is going to judge you all as a bunch of moon-barking lunatics.

Lower tropospheric temperatures, the only temperatures that count when measuring the greenhouse effect, have shown no increase since the end of 1998. Don’t believe me? Look it up.

Wait – how’d I guess that you liberals wouldn’t?

As far as sunspots, it is generally conceded that this does impact the earth’s temperature much more than CO2 (if a lib wants to refute this, I’ll show you my data if you show me yours). Then again, so does water vapor. And methane gases. This isn’t surprising given that CO2 is only about 380 parts per million. Don’t make me get my pennies out and show you what that looks like.

Ten thousand years ago, North America was a giant ice cube tray. Since then, global warming has thawed it out and given people a place to live. Since I haven’t seen any cave paintings of hominids driving SUVs, let’s assume it wasn’t the industrial revolution that caused the earth to come out of the deep freeze.

It might blow some people’s minds, but global warming is good. The Sahara is already too hot, and I wouldn’t mind saving money on my heating bill this winter. (Wait a minute, would more global warming means less fossil fuel usage and thus less global warming? I’m getting confused…)

Sorry if this is a bit tedious, but I feel like I have to get this out before Henry Waxman stuffs a rag soaked in ether in my mouth and drags me off…

Where was I? Oh, yeah MONEY.

Warmth is associated with wealth. But the bottom line is not the bottom line. It’s freedom.

That’s it. Now this heretic is off to build a snowman and call him Al. It snowed today in Monticello, New York, in June…

Nothing to see here…

A Billion More to Be Data-branded

The Daily Mail is reporting that India is planning to put more than a billion citizens on a database registry. Their rationale? Better delivery of social services and protection of identity theft.

We’ve already seen the identity theft argument made as a call for a so-called “Cyber Tsar” by Obama. At the rate things are going we may begin seeing “identity theft” of a different sort – people disappearing in a swirling black hole of statism crushing everything in its path…

I’m expecting a knock on my door: “We’re the techno-communist state, and we’re here to help…”

Here is the punchiest excerpt from the article above:

India is planning to provide its 1.1 billion-plus citizens with ID cards.

Entrepreneur, Nandan Nilekani has been chosen to lead the ambitious project which will be the second largest citizens’ database in a democracy, with China being the biggest (sic!).

The government believes the scheme, which will be finalised over three years, will aid the delivery of vital social services to the poorest people who often lack sufficient identification papers.

It also sees the scheme as a way to tackle increasing amounts of identity fraud and theft and, at a time of increased concern over the threat of militant violence, to boost national security and help police and law officials…
